Little is known about the artist, Ikkei’s life.  He was a student of Hiroshige III and was active from 1860 to the 1870s. He only produced 132 prints and 6 picture books. Which isn’t very much at all. I believe that Ikkei and Hirokage, a student of Ando Hiroshige who did a wonderful series of parody prints, were the same person. Their styles are quite similar. Think I’m wrong? Let me know.
