Ancient Story of the Yamabuki at Takada Hill from a rare series titled “Old Edo Stories Illustrated” published by Wakasa-ya dating 1843. The print illustrates a girl picking a bloom of the yamabuki (yellow rose) outside a hut in a rainstorm. Hiroshige’s signature is at the lower left. The round Tanaka censor’s seal and the publisher’s seal are at the lower right. The series and image title cartouches are at the upper left. The calligraphic panel at the upper left holds the story of the scene depicted.
