Delivery to France
We ship every print ourselves from Los Angeles (USA). Each print is placed in acid-free paper, protected between two stiff boards and sent in a padded envelope. Framed prints are protected and carefully packed in a box.
We ship by UPS or by USPS. Parcels sent by USPS are delivered in France by La Poste. Delivery costs are added to the purchase price. They depend on the delivery method and on the size and weight of the parcel, and are calculated at checkout for your delivery address. The available delivery methods and the exact delivery costs for your order are shown at checkout, before you confirm the order. Prints from Kotondo have a flat shipping price of 75 USD per order, shown at checkout converted into euros (about 67 EUR in October 2026).
We undertake to deliver within the time stated for the delivery method chosen before you confirm your order. This period runs from the order and includes preparing the shipment. It is: 8 to 10 working days with UPS (Worldwide Expedited, Saver or Express) and USPS Priority Mail Express International; 11 to 15 working days with USPS Priority Mail International; 12 to 28 working days with USPS First-Class Package International; 5 to 8 working days for prints from Kotondo (“Standard” delivery method). The time for each delivery method is shown again at checkout, before you confirm the order.
You receive an email with a tracking number as soon as your print has been shipped. Every shipment is insured.
From this site we deliver only to metropolitan France.
Import charges
Your order is imported from the United States into France. Import charges are not included in our prices and are not paid to us. They are payable by you and are collected by the carrier on behalf of customs, usually on delivery, sometimes before.
- Import VAT: it is calculated on the customs value of the shipment (in practice, the price of the print and the transport and insurance costs to the destination), plus customs duty and other non-VAT charges. Its rate depends on how customs classifies the print: 5.5 % for an original print within the meaning of the French General Tax Code (printed in a limited number of impressions from plates made entirely by hand by the artist) and for an antique more than one hundred years old; 20 % for a print that falls into neither category, for example a modern reprint. The description of each print states its date and the nature of the impression.
- Customs duty: the normal rate of customs duty for prints is 0 %. However, since 1 July 2026 customs have charged a flat-rate duty of 3 EUR per item line of the customs declaration for consignments with an intrinsic value of no more than 150 EUR.
- European Union handling fee: from 1 November 2026, a European Union handling fee of 2 EUR per item line of the customs declaration applies to distance sales of imported goods, including consignments over 150 EUR. It is separate from the carrier's own fees and is part of the import VAT base. The number of item lines depends on the tariff classification, the description and, where required, the origin of the goods.
- Carrier's fees: the carrier may charge its own customs clearance fees, whose amount it sets itself. We cannot calculate them in advance.
Examples (delivery to France from 1 November 2026, with the European Union handling fee of 2 EUR for a single item line of the customs declaration, excluding the carrier's fees):
- Print at 300 EUR, delivery 40 EUR, original print or more than one hundred years old: handling fee 2 EUR and import VAT of about 18.81 EUR (5.5 % of 342 EUR).
- Same shipment, print at the standard rate: handling fee 2 EUR and import VAT of about 68.40 EUR (20 % of 342 EUR).
- Print at 100 EUR, delivery 30 EUR, a single item line, original print or more than one hundred years old: flat-rate duty 3 EUR, handling fee 2 EUR and import VAT of about 7.43 EUR (5.5 % of 135 EUR).
These amounts are paid to customs or to the carrier, not to Mie Gallery.
