Hiroshige III - Gathering Shellfish at Low Tide

Hiroshige III - Gathering Shellfish at Low Tide

Utagawa Hiroshige III

A busy scene from the series "Famous Views of Modern Tokyo" Gathering Shellfish at Low Tide at Fukagawa Susaki.

Hiroshige III designed at least nine different series of prints showing depictions of Tokyo landmarks. Hiroshige III was - like Hiroshige II - a pupil of the great master Ando Hiroshige. The work of Hiroshige III gives a highly interesting insight into the development of Japan after the opening to the outside world.
