Maple viewing in autumn. A man takes a drink from a brook; in his company is a woman dressed in a maple-patterned kimono. Quite pretty.

Aoki Seiko was a Japanese painter active during the late Meiji and early twentieth-century periods. Working in the traditional nihonga style, Seiko is known for delicate illustrations of birds, flowers, and other natural subjects. His work reflects the Japanese kachō-ga (bird-and-flower painting) tradition, emphasizing graceful compositions, fine detail, and an appreciation for the natural world.
Relatively little biographical information survives about Seiko. His designs appeared in Japanese illustrated publications, preserving the traditional aesthetics of Japanese painting during a period of rapid artistic and cultural change
