Kawasaki, from the series “Scenes of Famous Places along the Tôkaidô Road” also known as the Processional Tôkaidô. The Shogun embarked on a trip from Edo to Kyoto to see the emperor. This is an amazing historical event, he was accompanied by 3,000 servants, samurai, and nobles. The way we know about this is that 15 artists including Yoshitoshi, Kunisada, ,Kunichika, Hiroshige II and others were commissioned to create 160 prints of the procession as they made their way to Kyoto.
Condition: Margins as shown, great color and impression, some dirt and stains, backed on thin Edo era paper.
