Fantastic and unusual vertical diptych from the kabuki play Sanmon Gosan no Kiri (樓門五山桐), or The Golden Gate and the Paulownia Crest, written by Namiki Gohei I, and first performed in 1778. Note the reflection in the water. Goemon Ishikawa is played by Danjuro Ichikawa. Hisakichi Mashiba is played by Sadanji Ichikawa.
