Kunichika and Hiroshige III
This is a collaboration print by Kunichika and Hiroshige III for a series titled “Tokyo Flowers and Scenic Spots” Hiroshige III did the inset images of the scenic spots and Kunichika the main image of the “Tokyo Flowers”, which are alludes to famous people from history and legend.
The hand gesture represents a sword and sheath (Kuji - “Kuji Self-Defense Method”).
Hiroshige III did the evening view image of Fuji. Kunichika did the character Niki Dansho as played by Bando Hikosaburo. He is a villain that is turned into a rat. He is easy to recognize in Japanese prints because he always wears a gray kimono with this crest design.
