Goju-san Tsugi Meisho Zue (Famous Places of Fifty-three Stations) So called "Vertical or Upright Tokaido series". Station 46, Shono. The remains of Shiratori-zuka.
After the successful publication of the Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido in 1833/34 (Hoeido edition), Ando Hiroshige made nearly twenty more series of the Tokaido Stations. One is called the Upright Tokaido because of the use of the vertical portrait format. And among Hiroshige's Tokaido series, the Upright or Vertical Tokaido is certainly among the better ones.
