Utagawa Kuniyoshi
From one of Kuniyoshi’s most famous 47 Ronin series, “Stories of the True Loyalty of the Faithful Samurai“. Title: Senzaki Yagorō Noriyasu. Senzaki Yagorō Noriyasu is depicted in a state of great grievance, swiftly running with his weapons.
In addition to being skilled in the martial arts, Noriyasu was fond of reading and writing. After the fall of Lord Akao, he lived in disguise as Mimasakaya Zenbei, watching the enemy and documenting the accomplishments of his allies in the 'Akao chronicle' book he created. The only family he had was his old mother, with whom Noriyasu shared every detail about the secret revenge mission. Concerned that she might cause him any distraction, she committed suicide. Thus, the presented rōnin (masterless warrior) was avenging not only his lord but also his dear mother.
