Ando Hiroshige
Series: One Hundred Famous Views of Edo. Ryogoku Ekoin Motoyanagi Bridge. In this scene we are seeing a tall wooden drum tower in front of the Sumida River. The 2 white flags at the top indicate there’s going to be a big sumo match at Ekoin temple.
I found this print on the Christie's auction website estimated at $2,000 but it went for $7,500 in 2023. The Christie's print was pristine but this version has very good color and impression, plus full borders.
The vertical rectangular cartouche upper right contains the series title on a red ground; the square cartouche upper right contains the title of the individual print. The seal of the publisher appears outside the lower left margin of each print.
