Hasui - Moon over the Arakawa River
Kawase Hasui
Moon over the Arakawa River, Akabane from the series "Twenty Views of Tokyo" (Tokyo nijukei, Arakawa no tsuki, Akabane). This early-edition woodblock print, shows the Arakawa River in the late evening from the river bank in Akabane. A light is on in the house by the river and a woman carrying a small child walks by. The moon casts it's light on the river and a fishing boat. Print title is written and print is signed by Hasui in pencil. There are no Watanabe seals on this print.
