Supernatural diptych by Kunisada of the fox woman Kuzunoha during the Shinoda Forest journey. Kazunoha Kitsune was the magical fox woman, so the foxfires (disembodied flames) we see dancing in the night sky, are related to her and her shapeshifting power. This is the Shinoda Forest Journey portion of the Kabuki play (Ashiya dauman ochi kagami). Actors Arashi Rikan III, Sawamura Yoshijiro I, Ichikawa Danjuro VIII in the roles of Kuzunoha kitsune, Abe no Yasuna and Abe no Seimei.
Condition: Good impression, color and condition, not backed but some glue remnants. 2 separate sheets, not joined.
