Yoshiiku Ochiai
Print from the series 'Eimei nijūhasshūku (英名 二十八 衆句 - 28 Famous Murders with Verse)', of which Yoshitoshi produced half, with Yoshiiku being responsible for the others.
Scene of Hosaku, later the priest Tenjitsubo, calmly putting his sword back into a cloth cover after he has choked an elderly woman to death to steal a document he can use to falsely claim to be the son of the shogun.
The series contains illustrations of events which often have a historical background, and were usually well-known from kabuki and noh plays and are considered the pinnacle of Muzan-e, Ukiyo-e with cruel motifs.
