The actor: Nakamura Shikan IV in the role of: Inada Kozō (稲田幸蔵) in the play: Kutsuwa no oto tazuna no Somewake. From a series of half-length actor portraits with poem. The still-lifes in the top of the prints were designed by Gengyo Miyagi (in most cases).

Almost all of the prints are based on actual performances of the years 1861 and 1862; few of them seem to be "mitate" prints, meaning that the actors in the depicted roles are imagined and not really performed in a specific play.
