Kabuki actor in the role of Soga Juro, from the "Revenge of the Soga Brothers". We see a pensive Juro clothed in an ornate robe decorated with blue birds and the Soga family crest picked out in gold ink.
Konishi Hirosada (小西廣貞) (1826 - 1865), was the leading print designer, painter, and book illustrator of the mid-nineteenth century in Osaka. He studied under Utagawa Kunimasu. Hirosada designed more than 800 prints in his lifetime, nearly all in the chûban format.
