Gorgeous print from the most spectacular flower book of the Taisho era. The double pages depict peonies in all their splendor of color and variety. Tanigami Konan, one of Japan's famous naturalist artists, was chosen to produce a series of peony paintings for the Teiten (Imperial Academy Art Exhibition). In 1923, Unsodo published a woodblock print set "Shôkei-Kaki-chô" (Selected Flower Pictures) of 24 peonies based on the original paintings.

These prints are from a damaged accordion bound book. Note the image of the book publishing information/text (and translation) is not included with the print - it is just for informational purposes.

Condition: Colors are very good, some binding residue on the back left and right edges. Some stains as shown. Creases in center top of print and minor tears.
