A portrait of Tokiwa Gozen reflected in a mirror "Tokiwa Gozen in the Snow with Camellias". From the series "Mirror of Women of Wisdom and Courage" (Kenyu fujo kagami) 賢勇婦女鏡. Kuniyoshi pairs famous women with flowers.

Lady Tokiwa was one of the most legendary warriors of the Heian period. Kuniyoshi, depicted her in many prints, often on her journey in the snow with her children hiding beneath her robes. The camellia, a winter-blooming flower, is a perfect match.

Condition: Good color, not backed but backing residue. A center crease and misc damage as shown.
