An interesting and humorous print by the artist Kuniteru 歌川国輝 (Sadashige 貞重). The title is "Heroes Clowning Around on a Tour of Hell". We see popular heroes tormenting the denizens of hell. He studied under both Kunisada and Toyokuni. He produced prints on a wide variety of subjects, including many depicting the increasing Western influence on Japan, with his main output taking the form of book illustrations and single-sheet ukiyo-e.
