Hiroshige III - Mitsui Bank
Hiroshige III - Mitsui Bank
Utagawa Hiroshige III
A print of Mitsui Bank in Suruga-cho. The modern Mitsui Exchange Bank's three-story building in Suruga-cho, was constructed in 1874. Mount Fuji can be seen in the background. An interesting design with nice architectural detail.
Hiroshige designed at least nine different series of prints showing depictions of Tokyo landmarks. Hiroshige III was - like Hiroshige II - a pupil of the great master Ando Hiroshige. The work of Hiroshige III gives a highly interesting insight into the development of Japan after the opening to the outside world.
